HW 01 - R Basics
This assignment is meant to get you comfortable with 1) the format of homework assignments in this course and 2) writing R code in RStudio. The specific questions on this assignment will be simpler and should take you less time than those on future assignments. This assignment focuses on variables, operators, datasets, and dplyr basics.
Getting started
Here are the steps for getting started:
- Find your
hw01-<your GitHub username>repo in the course GitHub organization - Clone this repo into RStudio on datahub
- Make any changes needed as outlined by the tasks you need to complete for the assignment
- Periodically render your file and take a look at the document generated
- Commit changes (for example, once per each new part)
- Push all your changes back to your GitHub repo
Outside resources & AI use: Before submitting, fill in the Outside Resources & AI Use section at the end of your .qmd (write “None” if you didn’t use any). This is required on every assignment.
You can of course push multiple to GitHub times throughout the assignment. Your final push at the deadline will be used for grading. (This means even if you made mistakes before that on GitHub, you wouldn’t be penalized for them, so long as the final state of your work is correct).
You’ll always want to render your Quarto document to HTML and review that HTML document to ensure it includes all the information you want and looks as you intended, as we grade from the rendered HTML. Both your .qmd and .html files should be on GitHub.
